About this audiobook

With the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism that have made her Shopaholic novels beloved international bestsellers, Sophie Kinsella delivers a hilarious new novel and an unforgettable new character. Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her mother:
I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.
Sammy the goldfish in my parents' kitchen is not the same goldfish that Mum gave me to look after when she and Dad were in Egypt.

Secrets from her boyfriend:
I weigh one hundred and twenty-eight pounds. Not one eighteen, like Connor thinks.
I've always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

From her colleagues:
When Artemis really annoys me, I feed her plant orange juice. (Which is pretty much every day.) It was me who jammed the copier that time. In fact, all the times.

Secrets she wouldn't share with anyone in the world:
My G-string is hurting me.
I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.

But come Monday morning, Emma's office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company's elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from
the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn't possibly get worse-Until they do.

I adored this one! Emma spills all her secrets to a stranger on a plane when she thinks they're about to die- then he turns out to be the millionaire head of the company she works for. The rest of the story is well paced and enjoyable. Emma was a very likable and easy to relate to character and I definitely found myself hoping things would work out for her. The writing is light and witty and the book is impossible to put down. It was a very fun read and definitely on par with Kinsella's Shopaholic books.

Rereading this one for the zillionth time. Maybe my favourite Sophie Kinsella book (either this one, the first Shopaholic or I've Got Your Number). Just such a good mix of heart, humour, romance and the sparkly bubbliness I've come to expect from her.

This book is cute and it made me laugh out loud. However, it is clear that contemporary just isn't my thing despite my love for the Traveling Pants Series.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I figured it would be an enjoyable fluff read that would occupy some down time. But, I it was very humorous and relatable. I found myself walking in Emma's shoes and rooting for her to find happiness. I enjoyed watching her character grow into a stronger woman and find herself along the way. Definitely passing this one along to others.

Emma is a likable heroine - basically good-hearted, not much good at saying what she really thinks from a mixture of not wanting to hurt others or being hurt herself. Through a fluke she ends up letting her guard down and discovering that a little frankness can do a world of good. Fun reading.

This was a fun little fluff read. It was cute, entertaining, and pretty enjoyable. If you enjoy romance novels by Julia Quinn, or the other Sophie Kinsella books (like the Shopaholic series), then you should enjoy this. If you prefer a meatier plot or more developed characters, this probably isn't the book for you. It's definitely romance-story fare, with one-dimensional characters (ditzy main character with a heart of gold who means well but constantly screws up; stoic, silent, mysterious love interest who is changed by his contact with fun-loving ditz; intelligent, "together" best friend of ditz who is always supportive and never catty despite her clearly more successful situation; and another friend who is the epitome of a "mean girl") and a very predictable plot. To be 100% clear, this is a fluff read, something to pick up when you just want to be vaguely entertained and amused. Nothing thought-provoking here.

Sometimes, you just want a fun, uncomplicated book that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. No deep messages about life, no crazy suspenseful action, just pure, good fun. Can You Keep a Secret? is that book. Despite it's length, it's a fast read. I finished it in a day and practically laughed the whole way through. Emma's voice is perfect and I felt like I were listening to a klutz of a best friend spilling all her secrets and worries. There are some hilarious moments, especially when Emma realizes that the guy she told all her secrets too is actually the CEO of the company she works for. And he's so funny about it! Jack doesn't say straight out that he knows Emma, but he remembers everything she said on the plane and makes a point to subtly let her know that he remembers. I felt both embarrassed for Emma and was laughing so hard from the situation that I got crazy looks from people around me. (Whatever, it was great!)What makes this book awesome is that Kinsella has no problem with making Emma imperfect. She doesn't know a lot about the business she works in, tries too hard, and has quite a few anxiety issues. But she's fun, loving, and puts all her effort and heart into the things she undertakes, which makes her completely loveable. The same holds true for all her characters -- they have their flaws, and they have their good points. Sometimes it evens out, sometimes it doesn't. I felt like I was reading about real people, which was nice. There were a few times where I had some "yeah, right, like that would happen" moments, but nothing big enough to really detract from my enjoyment. Besides, I took this book as something fun and not too serious, and really loved approaching it that way.Overall, I think most women and even some men would enjoy this novel. It's about being honest with yourself, opening up to new experiences and relationships, and not taking life too seriously. If you want something you can just relax with and have a good laugh, pick up this book. It's the perfect summer read.

Hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. You can feel the frustration of the main character and really feel what she feels. Love it!

This is chick lit but there's a moral to the story. Woman, with a little too much to drink on turbulent flight, spills all her most private thoughts and secrets to man sitting next to her. Couple of days later she learns that he's her new boss. There is a moral to the story . . . . are your secrets more important than someone else's.

Now this is fun. Destructive, but fun. Like anything pretty, it's painful; it pricks. But at least it's funny. And at least it all turned out. It's a little crazy though. But they're just girls, you know. (9/10)

This book originally intruigied me, because of the title who doesnt want to read about someone elses life and secrets? I didnt want to put the book down, when the main character Emma is on a plane. She was trying very hard to get promoted, but ended up messing up. Emma met a guy named Jack on the air plane. They thought they were going to die while on the plane so she freaked out and blurted out all of her secrets to a complete stranger. The next week she came into work to find out that Jack was the owner of the company she worked at. She was in complete shock and utterly embrassed. They ended up hitting it off and all was going great until he told the whole world her secrets. This book was great and so real life. Emma has flaws and secrets just like anyone else. It shows were human and that fairy tales were the prince takes you home to his castle arent true. You will always have peoplel ike Artemis, Emmas nasty and rude co-worker. That you almost killled her plant and her! You will tell your boyfriends your a size four but really your a size 8. No matter who you are you have secrets. How would you feel if all your secrets were all poured out to the world/ You may not think your a very important person. But this book shows, your secrets are bigger and more important, than you think. You dont have to be famous to be important just a person.

I LOVED this book! This is definitely one of Sophie Kinsella's best works, right up there with The Undomestic Goddess. Chances are that if you are a fan of her works you have already read this novel, but if not, put it at the top of your list. It is a really quick read and well worth your time!

I came across this book at a used book sale. What a fun find! I enjoyed the characters and the story line was enjoyable. Lighthearted and a great beach book, although I read it in the winter and loved it! I am looking forward to reading other books by this author.

I started this book and thought "I'll scan this one, it isn't too interesting" and then, smack, right in the head, the author throws out hilarious items that kept me turning page after page, until I finished the book.. At 1AM! The amusing way the lies that the main character, Emma, told on a plane trip to a total stranger, come back to haunt her. And to amuse the reader. What are the lies about? Truth, ironically, in the end. Emma hates to live lies, so her eventual truths free everyone, and land her a romance that is quality, not needy or expected. Emma is someone I would love to have as a friend, so when I put the book down, I was sad that no one in my life has such a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a lot of secrets that are shared with me. I will keep looking for an Emma in my life, and in the meantime, try to be an Emma to others. An unforgettable character and one I hope the author, Sophie Kinsella of Confessions of a Shopaholic, continues to use in all of her future novels. Run, don't walk, to get this book, and then share it with your favorite friend.

This is one of the best novel that i've read.Written by infamous and my favorite writer that has published bestselling Shopaholic series, Sophie Kinsella, this book really captured my mind since it views the real life of many women nowadays.if im not mistaken, i've read this book about 12 times. I really enjoy it. It is a story about young woman, Emma Corrigan who just like us who has some secrets that we don't want other people to know...however, one day she accidentally slip the secrets to just the wrong guy, her new boss.the story quite happening since it shows how crazy life could be and how things can be so complicated when we become so desperate.

I thought it was funny, witty, and down-to-earth. Everyone has secrets. But let's face it- would you honestly divulge every single little secret you have to someone on a plane (even in turbulence) you've never met? Then it turns out to be someone you didn't want it to be, and a relationship ensues? I doubt it. While it seemed far-fetched, I understand the honesty and secrets part... especially when it comes to relationships!

I really loved this book. I found the main character "Emma" really likable. She reminded me of me in a lot of aspects, although there were times when she was a little annoying. =) I actually find myself crying at one point. I would of liked a little more at the end, it kind of left me wanting more on Jack and Emma.

I love Sophie Kinsella and Madeline Wickham, I will read anything she writes. I first read confessions of a shopaholic which got me hooked so when I saw this book I was instantly sucked in. I love the main character, I related to her a lot with her verbal diarrhea and honesty.

Okay, so Can You Keep a Secret isn't the best book on the planet. It's not even the best chick-lit book I've ever read. However, as someone who has just finished finals (they suck the life and soul out of you), I decided to treat myself to a cute and fluffy chick-lit. Can You Keep a Secret? wasn't ground-breaking, but it was extremely entertaining. This is what I like about chick-lit: it's funny, it's cute, and it's fluffy. Sure, they're wholly forgettable (so much that right now I can't even recall the main character's name) and most of the time they all seem to run together, but guilty pleasures and candy reads are good for the soul and great in moderation. Can You Keep a Secret had all the characteristics a good chick-lit needs and it made me forget about how stressed I've been this past semester and relaxed me somewhat. Can You Keep a Secret was a hilarious chick-lit. This is coming from someone who could never get into Brit chick-lit. Don't ask me why, but everytime I've tried to read a Brit chick-lit, I end up being really bored. But Can You Keep a Secret entertained me from beginning to end. Sure the main character was mildly pathetic (even more so than most chick-lits) and most of the time I kept thinking, "Grow a backbone!", I still found her mildly endearing. However, I absolutely loved her friends (whose names also escape me). I always end up liking the supporting characters more than the actual main characters when it comes to chick-lit. I absolutely loved the bitchy, fashionable roommate. Okay, she was a major bitch and a complete snob, but she was a good friend. Plus her whole "Mummy says that's the way to get a rock on your finger" and the "Well, they shouldn't have messed with Mummy" response to the horrible things her mother did to numerous men was just hilarious. Anyway, so Can You Keep a Secret won't win any awards and it definitely wasn't the best thing ever written. However, it served it's purpose to keep me entertained and keep me laughing out loud. It was just what I needed at the time and it gave me a break from all that thinking I usually do when reading heavier books.

Back around Christmas 2009 I read this book and at that time I hated reading more then anything in the world (I am 13 though) but I got a book for some reason. Well, I read it and I fell in love, this book is the reason I love to read. This amazing tale is about an avagre city girl who tells all of her secrets to a man on a plane when thinking she is about to die. Lets just say that going to add some trouble to her thought to be perfect relationship, and add some stress to her career.

I heard this as an audio book. The plot, while a bit predictable, was still amusing. It had a few, small details that weren't readily guessed, and the journey from start to finish was enjoyable. There's a part at the climax where it is nearly unbelievable how much embarrassment the main character is forced to endure, which amazingly is quite funny, and not just entirely cringe-making. The reader did a very good job, and had a pleasant voice. She did a fantastic job with all the female characters, although the male characters sounded a bit slow as she tries to give them a deeper timbre.

This book was intriguing and interesting. A terrifying encounter leads to an unlikely romance with many ups and downs. This story keeps you irresistibly drawn in to the love story of Emma and Jack. Will the vast differences in their two worlds tear them apart, or bring them even closer? I would recommend this book to women of all ages, it is a fun and fast read.
