- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A great story of some of the most epic adventures of all time.
This book was originally written about 100 years ago as well, so some of the language used is refreshingly based. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another account of stupendous feats of exploratory navigation. Cook was clearly an imperialist bully and his Euro-centric world view is easily perceived in the narrative.
Nonetheless he was one of the most gifted and successful of the early English and European explorers and adventurers .
The risky travels these men made in flimsy little craft are almost not to be believed. One questions whether anyone today would undertake or survive such risks and hardships as a way of life.
Nicely paced narration carries us through the arc of his story savoring the adventures.
