Reviews for Wonderstruck

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5If you doubt whether God hears your prayers, let alone answer them, you’re not alone. Where God wants a relationship, it’s become a monologue from either side. Many Christians suffer from this disengagement, feel uncertain, depressed, haunted or alone. In Wonderstruck, author and speaker MargaretFeinberg leads you through her own spiritual revival. From struck by the Northern lights on evenings outside her home in Alaska, the heritage of her grandfather to a treasure hunt in South Africa with her husband Leif. Feinberg has found new value in celebrating Lent, getting away with formula-prayers, even reducing them to three-words-prayers to restart fresh in a spontaneous combustion. The importance of a door (may God close and open doors for you? How hospitable are you, remember Abraham entertaining angels?). The power of forgiveness and patience all contribute to a new appreciation of God’s presence and his steadfast love. Some chapters are cluttered with I-sentences and an overkill of personal stories. This distracted me, seeking whether this books should be read as a memoir rather than a advice from lessons learned. The practical side is saved for the last as a 30-days companion. Margaret challenges you to join a daily thought or question for a month. An online conversation will take place on Feinberg’s Facebook page as well as on twitter and Pinterest. She invites you to post your experiences, aha moments, and photos that display what you’re discovering along the way. With each post, simply use hashtag #prayingforwonder and look for others who are on the same journey with you. Why keep your wonderstruck experiences to yourself?
