About this audiobook
A desperate stand. . .
Trouble was following Flagan Sackett with a vengeance. Captured and tortured by a band of Apaches, he had escaped into the rugged San Juan country, where he would try to stay alive until his brother Galloway could find him.
But the brothers were about to find worse trouble ahead. Their plan to establish a ranch angered the Dunn clan, who had decided that the vast range would be theirs alone. Now Galloway and Flagan would face an enemy who killed for sport -- but as long as other Sacketts lived, they would not fight alone. . .

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Of course I love the Sacketts, even if they are on the rougher side as Galloway and Flagan are. Gold, cattle and obstacles abound. And there is a pretty girl. I enjoyed the book and will continue reading the series. Who would enjoy it? Anyone who enjoys Westerns.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5To be honest, I'm starting to get tired of the formula. The story was interesting enough; it's not bad, it's just not great either. But on the very last page, Galloway still gets the girl and the gold. Honestly, I was hoping that wouldn't happen. Maybe for once, I'll read a book where girl and gold aren't part of the conclusion. I mean, after all, it was on the very last page. Of course, abrupt ending as well.
This book at least had some new elements- a sniper and a stray dog-wolf. And, it started out uniquely also. Louis really can write a good story, he just doesn't dare break out of his comfort zone, and Galloway is no different. But, I only have a few books left in the Sackett series, then it's off to the "Talon & Chantry" series. Maybe something new will happen there. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Flagan and his brother Galloway Sackett plan to settle permanently near a town called Shalako. But their endeavors to start a ranch are opposed by a cattle rustling family. Good entry in the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Why is this called Galloway?? The main character and first-person narrator is his brother Flagan! Ah, well.... This is a good one - lots of action and strong characters.
