      This is book is from the magic tree house series. Jack and Annie are taken into the cold continent of Antarctica. They are supposed to find the Cave of the Ancient Crown. Jack and Annie soon find out that they are in contemporary times and not ancient time. They are supposed to know try to find an ancient crown in a contemporary time. This book would be considered a modern fantasy book.

      I have not read the Magic Tree House books for years. I had forgotten how wonderful they are. In this book Jack and Annie go to Antarctica on a mission to find the fourth secret of happiness for Merlin the magician who is suffering from deep sadness. A great addition to the Magic Tree House series, and a joy for parent and child to share. The story moves quickly and keeps the young reader's attention. I like the way Jack and Annie interact. Jack is methodical and is always writing notes in his journal (nice role model for kids), while Annie is the more intuitive one. I like the addition of penguin facts and facts about Antarctica at the end of the book. I highly recommend it.

      Jack and Annie find themselves in antartica the super cool continent. Next they have to find the fourth secret of happiness to help Merlin. The rhyme goes for the fourth secret you must go to a burning mountain of ice and snow. Go wheels by air and then all fall down speed to Camelot by the close of day less grief may take Merlin forever away.well there is more to fi d out in this story. I recommend this story to people who really are fans of Jack and Annie.

      Jack and Annie must find the final secret to save Merlin at the "burning mountain of ice and snow/On wheels, by air, then all fall down/Till you come to the Cave of the Ancient Crown." The travel to Antarctica and encounter many unusual places and creatures as they seek to unravel this riddle. The final answer to the riddle is embodied by a concrete creature but is a concept found by all of us in different relationships in our lives.

      Formal Review: The book that I read was Eve of the Emperor Penguin. In this book we follow Jack and Annie to Antarctica to fin d the fourth and final answer to happiness in order to save Merlin from his depression. We follow them through a cave, on a helicopter, and into a penguins secret home in order to find happiness. My favorite part of this book was seeing the way that Jack and Annie persevered through all of the challenges that they were met with on their journey and how they used everything that they have learned in the previous books to overcome these challenges. If you like learning about new places and things, going on adventures, danger, and learning the secret to happiness, you'll love this book! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, and once you read it, I know that you will too! Genre: this book is realistic fantasy, because there is no such thing as a magic tree house.

      In this modern fantasy series, two kids solve mystery's. In this book, they were looking for the 4th key to happiness for their friend. When two friends came in the magic tree house, they told Jack and Annie (the two kids), that they had to go to Antarctica to find the last key of happiness for their friend in order for him to live. So they went on their journey to Antarctica with the magic wand. They had a riddle that they had to follow, which told them they had to roll, fly, then fall in order to get to where they needed to be. This was hard for them because they were just two kids, and did not know what that meant. They posed as a newspaper writer, and a photographer to get on a tour with a lady named Nancy. Eventually they did all three of those things, and they ended up in a penguin palace. The emperor penguin told them that because they saved a penguin earlier that day, they had been expecting them. They told the penguins what they needed, and a small, orphan penguin wanted to go and live with the dying friend. So the kids took the penguin back home, with Nancy who found out they were just kids. Then they wished their way back to where their sick friend was and gave him the penguin, and it made them him feel better. They found the fourth key, which was taking care of something.

      The genre of this early chapter book is modern fantasy. Jack and Annie, brother and sister travel in their magical treehouse to collect the fourth reason for happiness. The treehouse takes them to Antarctica, where they meet the emperor penguins, and bring back a baby for Merlin, the wizard, who is ill. It is through this baby that Jack and Annie realize that the fourth reason for happiness is taking care of another individual.
