About this audiobook

Roundhouse Publishing editor Kate C. Leever's first letter to her newest legacy author was intended to impress upon him the growing demand for his "vampire romances." Though he'd expressed little to no desire for publicity, book tours or the like, it was clear that this was a writer waiting to be broken out. Correspondence with Mr. Lucern Argeneau tended to be oddly delayed, but this time his response was quick and succinct.

"NO."

But Kate was adamant: Luc was going to attend a romance convention to meet his fans. By hook or by crook, despite his reclusive nature, odd sleep schedule and avoidance of the sun, the surly yet handsome Luc was going to be recognized as the real charmer a nationally bestselling author should be. But soon Kate would learn that his novels were more biographies than bodice rippers, and it'd be her neck on the line.

A sweeter surrender, or more heartwarming love story - his own - Luc has yet to write.

Lucern's biographies of his family have been mistaken for paranormal romances. Kate C Leever is his editor who is trying to prove herself and trying to get him to do SOME promotion of his work. She decides that the only way to convince him is to visit him. She finds him quite strange and curt but strangely attractive. She eventually gets him to agree to attend one convention.Lucern finds himself at a huge romance convention and totally at sea. The setup is great fun and the characters are fun and interesting.

Haven't laughed this hard in a long time, not fussed about the narrator but loved the story, well worth listening or reading :)

I have been really enjoying this series. The story about the siblings and their loves although enjoyable, is predictable.

I loved this bit of tongue and cheek at the Paranormal Romance genre. Lucern is quite endearing as the awkward family biographer. How he handles Kate is quite a pleasure to see. I wanted to love Kate as a character but I found her rather lacking for dashing Lucern.

I really liked the story. I agree with other reviewers, the voices used were atrocious. It’s really Luc’s speaking voice (hie reading/thought voice is fine) & Kate’s is sort of I guess whiny at time … somewhere along the line got used to it & loved the storyline.

(Lucern & Kate): I have to say that this one so far is my least favorite. It was boring and on top of that, it was a slow burn. So Lucern is an antisocial author and Kate is his editor. Kate spends most of her time in the book either trying to get Lucern to go to a book signing convention, or dealing with his special issues. While some of the shenanigans they get into and the moments with the Argeneau family are often humorous it wasn't enough to bring the story more to life. I didn't really feel a connection between the two characters, it felt a little forced. There were no actual elements of danger like there were in the other two books. I'm hoping the next book is better.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so much reading (listening to) a book. It is beyond my imagination how anyone can dream up all the hysterical situations in this book. I honestly laughed until i cried. (many times) It took me a little while to get into the book at first b/c I usually prefer more action and danger. I'm glad I gave it a chance and got to enjoy the humor, imagination and creativity of the author. I truly loved this book.

The story was good but the narrators character voices were so irritating I was constantly gritting my teeth and cringing!

Single White Vampire by Lynsay SandsBook #3: Argeneau SeriesSource: Purchase (Print and Audible)My Rating: 3½/5 starsLucern Argeneau has become somewhat disillusioned with life. After more than four centuries of living, all the things he once loved and enjoyed have become old hat, not worth the time or effort. In fact, the only thing that currently brings Lucern Argeneau any pleasure is the research he does for the books he writes. Though he didn’t intend his latest books to be so, they have been labeled paranormal fiction and now there is someone by the name of Kate C. Leever from his publishing house who just won’t stop contacting him. As an editor at Roundhouse Publishing, Kate C. Leever is serious about her work and willing to go to great lengths to keep her authors happy. Which is precisely how she has found herself on Lucern Anrgeneau’s front porch. When Kate inherited Lucern from his previous editor, she was warned of his surliness, his apparent inability to answer phone calls/letters/emails, and total unwillingness to engage with, well, anyone! Unfortunately, for Lucern anyway, Kate C. Leever isn’t so easily put off and she is bound and determined to see him become even more successful! With that in mind, Kate has made her way to Canada and isn’t going to leave until she has a commitment from Lucern regarding at least one promotional event. Lucern has every intention of getting Kate C. Leever in and out of his home in short order. He has no interest in what she’s offering, no interest in further promoting his already successful books, and no interest in her as a mere mortal. Thanks to a series of unfortunate events and his nosy mother, Lucern can’t get Kate C. Leever out of his home, and before he knows it has agreed to a romance book convention. And he thought having her in his home was a bad idea . . . .The romance book conference is just one bit of crazy after another, and it doesn’t take Lucern long to realize Kate C. Leever is dropping a ton of her other responsibilities to insure his happiness. With that knowledge, Lucern does his best to participate in the conference events and make Kate’s job just a bit easier. What Lucern (and Kate) both find is that Lucern is actually quite good at the whole engaging with people thing, and people tend to like him! He’s funny, intelligent, charming, and a damn fine writer. What Kate also finds out is that Lucern is a vampire, and that comes with its own set of rules and complications. All of which immediately accepts and deals with. In the face of that knowledge, Lucern begins to consider Kate C. Leever as something more than a mere mortal. The Bottom Line: I really want to assign more than 3.5 stars to this read, but when I look at it objectively, really objectively, I just can’t get past my dislike of Kate C. Leever. Kate is a lot of everything to take and she becomes somewhat overwhelming in a not so good way. On the flip side of my dislike for Kate is my adoration of Lucern. I love that crusty, old vampire so much! His surliness and reclusiveness are as much a part of his personality as it is a product of his advanced age. In this way, Kate C. Leever, in all her overwhelmingly perky glory is perfect for Lucern! As always, I liked the twists and turns the plot took to get to the HEA and the inclusion of the extended Argeneau family. Overall, I’m still loving my re-read/listen of this series and can’t wait to keep moving forward!

I liked the book, hated the voice. He’s not bad when he reads normal but when he does their voices, he makes them sound weird. Lucern sounds like an old man who’s got a constant stick up his butt. Like he’s always in pain and constipated. All the other characters sound like dorks and Kate sounds pathetic and irritating. He reads well just not great for voices but the story was very enjoyable.

Once I got into it, it was good. When I first started listening to this book, I was a little discouraged...the narration just didn't do it for me. After a bit, when I learned the characters more, I found the narration to be fitting for Luc. I did not like it for Late though. This book had some steam, made me laugh, and I enjoyed the characters and story. I will continue with this series.

Lucern aka. single white vampire would probably be very offended with my description of him, but I find the word that best describes him is cute. He's grumpy, surly, reclusive - in other words one of the most popular types of romance novel heroes. And when he meets modern, outgoing, take-charge Kate he won't know what him him. And after a couple of weeks he finds himself on a renaissance themed party in a costume wearing a hose stuck to a tablecloth and with Kate between his legs trying to untangle him...

Mr. Lucern Argeneau is a surly stubborn vampire. He is a famous author of romance novels (who would ever guess that from Luc) but he ignores his mail, phone call and emails. His own family have to come to his house to even keep in contact with him. He is a anti social creature, whose favorite word is "No". He has no intention of being publicized, although his editor insists. She arrives at his home and camps there until she can convince him to do a interview, or a book tour.Kate Leever is a talented, and beautiful young woman. She knows that she has to convince this surly author to do something for publicity; especially since her job is on the line. So she heads to his home, and stubbornly refuses to leave. She badgers and attempts to convince him that it would be in his best interest. Of Course his most popular word with her is "No". She has never met a man with so few vocabulary as Luc. Luc's mother, Marguerite is a interfering mother when it comes to her children, especially trying to get them married off. She convinces Luc to bring Kate as his date to Etienne's Wedding. Events occur whereby Lucern is tricked into attending the RT Convention with hundreds of fans. When he finds out what he has agreed to, he is furious with mother especially. But she reminds him that he gave his word that he would attend, so he does albeit reluctantly. Now I absolutely loved this book, I was laughing the whole way through. If you can just imagine a handsome, alpha male and very surly attending the Romantic Times Convention; someone who hates to converse too much and his favorite word is ""no" well its a disaster waiting to happen. Which is exactly what I was thinking, but as it turned out; Lucern managed it pretty well once he learned how to converse with people and realize how important it is to keep up with his fans. The journey from him saying a few words to have whole conversations however is a riot!! I wouldn't have wanted to miss reading out on this one; so if you need a good laugh; just pick up this book and you will never regret it. Of course there were other things I enjoyed about it as well. I loved Kate; she is such a enticing character that really just makes you fall in love with her instantly. She is such a warm and lovable character. At first I was thinking there are no two more people more opposite from one another, I have no idea how they will work things out but as it turned out they ended up being complimenting one another and really just perfect for one another. Because opposites do attract, and in my opinion is one of the best ingredients for a romantic relationship; especially regarding this one. It was filled with passion, witty humor, and characters that will draw you into the story, and make you want to read more.

Can I give a book a lower rating just because I don't like the author's take on vampirism?!? Ok, I do know vampires really aren't real... but saying they are Atlantians who developed nanos that live in their bodies and feed off of their blood (which is why they need to consume blood to survive...)

That annoyed me!!! I couldn't get over it.... the story wasn't too bad, but that part - I guess it's a different take, but still... talk about going all out fantasy!

I have to admit I'm a sucker for a good vampire romance and this is a great one. It is a wonderful mix of romance and humor which can be sadly lacking in such series as "Twilight" and Christine Feehan's "Dark Series".Lucern Argeneau has been living alone for years interacing with no-one but his family. He has been writing the stories of his family finding their lifemates and sending them to his publisher, who had published his earlier books as histories. To his surprise, they are being published as paranormal romance. Further, his editor has left the company, and his new editor is now the tenacious Kate C. Leever. Not put off by his one word replies to her requests for him to go on tour about his books, she comes to visit him and they eventually fall in love.I have read all of the Argeneau series and this is my favorite. It is fresh and funny and gives a nice entrance into the series, and though the details of "vampirehood" evolve a bit througout the series, this title has held up well.I strong recommend it for those who love Paranormal Romance, like me, but get a little tired of how seriously some vampires take themselves.

This book by Lynsay Sands is about Kate and Lucern (the vampire). I found this book funny it had some parts that I actually laughed out loud. Kate is an editor and is trying to get Lucern to go on book tours. Eventually she winds up tricking him into going. His books are extremely popular and they are written about vampires. No one knows that they are actually his family history that he is writing about. It is a cute plot, good characters and all around fun read.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun, light hearted, comedy-of-errors, fluff read. This is the kind of book you would use to relax after an expecially stressful day. The plot isn't complex and there are quite a few misunderstandings with humorous consequences. The book isn't really good enough to make you remember events/scenes and want to read it again, but it is good for a few hours of amusement.

This book for the record, was not as good as A Quick Bite, but better than Love Bites. I struggled with the notion of giving this book a three star but rejected it, based on the fact that I have given many better books than this a three star. Still this isn't quite as bad as the other books I have given a two star...so 2 1/2 stars, really. Here, we once again re-visit the Argeneau vampire series. This time, grumpy Lucern gets his turn to to find a human chick who can't read his mind to fall in love with and then turn into a vampire. Predictabiltiy bites. Kate is everything a man would want in an eternity mate. She is fiesty, indespendant, and sexy... She is good natured even when dealing with tempermental Lucern. Kate is an editor for the romance novels Luc writes. But really they aren't novels, the are historical novels because they tell what has really happened in his family. Kate is a little dense at times and it takes her WAY too long to figure out that Luc is a vamp. This book is more comedic than Love Bites and there are very funny, well played scenes here. However, in between those funny, well played scenes are a lot of boring filler pages. We never truly grasp what is so special about Kate that in four hundred plus years, she stands out as THE ONE. And we never truly understand why Kate falls for grumpy nosed Lucern. Still, I like this family. I like the comic portions of these books. The sex scenes are pretty boring, and there are tons of repetitive things that happen in each of the first three books. Still, one could pass the time in many worse ways than to read this book. I know that this is a lighthearted series but it could benefit from some more depth to the characters, and some variances in plot elements. Other than that, Ms Sands can write some stellar moments into a book and there are little snippets of this story I probably won't forget easily. Preditability bites...

I'm glad I finally started on this series. Single White Vampire was a cute, amusing, chick-lit style vampire romance. But unlike the thick, flowery, icky romantic writing style of Christine Feehan, this book's style more closely resembles that of MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series. Lucern Argeneau is a vampire, but he's also a writer. Little does the unsuspecting public realize that the paranormal romance books he's writing are actually accounts of his family's history: the relationship of his mother Marguerite and father Claude, his brother Etienne to Rachel Garrett, his sister Lissianna to Gregory Hewitt... the stories he tells in his books, while fact to him, are fiction to the public because who really believes in vampires anyway? Kate Leever is Lucern's editor, and pays a visit to Luc to try to convince him to participate in a few publicity events for his books. She is shocked by the reclusive and surly vampire—though she doesn't yet realize that's what he truly is. Between Kate and Luc's mother, they trick him into attending the Romantic Times conference, where Kate begins to wonder about the increasing feelings she has towards him as she begins to crack Luc's hardened exterior and see the true man beneath. There were a number of funny scenes, such as Luc's introduction to television, and his indignation at watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "Did you see that? Buffy just staked that poor vampire. He had yet to do anything even untoward, he just crawled out of his grave and she staked him. That is just not right!" LOL

Lucern is a 600 year old vampire who writes romances. Kate, his editor, wants him to do publicity, which is does NOT want to do. Needless to say, she manages to convince him and romance ensues. Cute.
