That's a lot of books, a lot of years of writing, and a lot of readers, making him one of the most prolific and popular writers of all time. His books have been published and/or distributed by every major US publisher, including Prentice Hall, Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Macmillan, McGraw-Hill, Hachette, HarperCollins, Pearson Education, Cengage Learning, Wiley, and HMH, and over 100 other publishers globally. Like his forefather, Robert is a gifted and distinguished writer, a respected and skilled teacher and someone who operates against the grain. Robert became the first breakout author of the digital publishing movement. The first to serialize an ebook, the first to e-author a bestseller, and the first to e-author a digital audio bestseller. Robert is the recipient of multiple awards recognizing his outstanding contributions and excellence in writing, and a recent nominee for a Lifetime Achievement award. Today, writing as William Stanek and Robert Stanek, he has over 50 #1 bestsellers to his credit. As a partially disabled veteran and father of a child with disabilities, Robert is a strong supporter of related causes and charities. In the military, Robert served as an intelligence analyst working with the NSA. His military career took him to multiple combat zones and duty stations in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. His distinguished service earned him many commendations, including the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross.

Reviews for The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches III
3 ratings2 reviews
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I confess I bought this book after being persuaded by the dozens of excellent reviews at Amazon, even though I'd never seen it recommended anywhere else. I should have searched through and read the negative reviews. My three children (12, 10 and 8) are sophisticated listeners and fantasy-genre afficionados and we could barely get through this book as a readaloud. The author has clearly taken great delight in constructing a rich and complex fantasy world. However, he's an appallingly poor tour guide. The prose fails to flow, connections between characters, storylines and geographic locations are difficult to discern, and character development is capricious and unconvincing. The subplots don't resolve, and the characters in the separate storylines never meet, nor are the connections between them anything beyond the vaguest hints. We've read hundreds and hundreds of books together over the years, many wonderful and some not so great, but we have never struggled the way we did with this book to reach the end. We made it and feel like we deserve medals.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5worth sticking with. Plot moves jerkily but battle scenes and unfolding drama of the roles people play in a conflict between peoples is worth reading on for.
