About this audiobook
The moment Amanda defied her rich and powerful father to marry Bobby O'Leary, Big Max disowned her. Even now, with Bobby dead and Amanda mired in debt, he refuses to forgive her.
But Caleb, the new man in Amanda's life, is determined to mend fences between father and daughter. He also has a far more personal mission-to make Amanda and her family his own. But when she learns how close he is to Big Max and the secret Caleb's been hiding, there's every chance she could walk away.
As a pastor, Caleb's used to calling on a higher power for help, and heaven knows it's going to take a miracle to fix this before it's too late.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Kindle Borrowed; third in the Charleston triology. This time it's Amanda's turn for love. She falls in love with Caleb, the minister. But she's survived a marriage that wasn't what she thought, bankruptcy and had three kids. And Caleb is trying to get her to reconcile with her father, who disowned her. Can she trust him?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Amanda's father is very rich but she is very poor. Caleb is sworn to secrecy by Max about what he has done to help his daughter but now he is falling for Amanda. Will Amanda forgive the two of them ? Will she give Caleb a chance ?This is a story which telegraphs its ending at the start but where getting there is engaging. The author doesn't assume that forgiveness or trust is easy and develops the story in a believable fashion. All the loose ends from the series are tied up and many other matches arranged.Entertaining reading.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Really enjoyed the narration by Tanya Eby. My problems were all with the story. I reviewed this one for AAR too. Tanya Eby is a great narrator but this book was too sickly sweet for me and hero reverends aren't my favourite. The narration was enough to keep me listening but it didn't make the book an overall enjoyable experience. Too sweet, too many misunderstandings and secrets and they took too long to be revealed. It was a very frustrating listen. Also, THERE WAS NO SEX. Too much sugar needs some spice is all I'm sayin'.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5As usual, I loved this one by the wonderful, fun and talented author, Sherryl Woods. 'Waking Up In Charleston' is the final book in "The Lowcountry Trilogy" This series begins with 'The Backup Plan', followed by 'Flirting With Disaster' and now 'Waking Up In Charleston'.This is the story of Amanda O'Leary, widowed with 3 children and barely a dime to her name. She is a strong willed woman and would do anything for her children. Caleb Webb is a well liked and respected Preacher, who helped to organize a group to build a house for Amanda and her children. Seeing Amanda with her children and spending much of his time with them, he not only has a deep respect for her, but his heart is beginning to belong solely to her. However, Caleb has a secret from his past that he is afraid to tell Amanda for fear of losing her. Amanda's father, Big Max, more or less disowned her when she married a man that he thought was not worthy of her. After many failed attempts at a reconciliation with her father, Amanda decides it is a lost cause and wants nothing to do with her him. When she finds out that Caleb has befriended Max, she becomes furious and views it as an ultimate betrayal. It is not long after, however, Amanda finds out that her father is ill and there may not be much time to let forgiveness for him into her life, before it is to late. There are also secondary characters within the story that have a story of their own. Mary Louise, not yet nineteen, finds herself pregnant with her long time love, Danny. They struggle to find peace and the ability to do what is right for one another and for their baby. I found myself to be quickly engulfed within 'Waking Up In Charleston' each and everytime that I would pick it up. It was very difficult to put down, once I did get started. The characters are wonderful and I loved each and everyone one of them - even Big Max. This was a great story and one that I would recommend for a great fun read. Though this part of a trilogy, I think that it could be read as a stand alone and not leave the reader lost or feeling as though they missed something.
