About this audiobook
A New York Times bestseller, this controversial guide to improving your marriage has transformed thousands of relationships, bringing women romance, harmony, and the intimacy they crave.
Like millions of women, Laura Doyle wanted her marriage to be better. But when she tried to get her husband to be more romantic, helpful, and ambitious, he withdrew—and she was lonely and exhausted from controlling everything. Desperate to be in love with her man again, she decided to stop telling him what to do and how to do it. When Doyle surrendered control, something magical happened. The union she had always dreamed of appeared. The man who had wooed her was back.
The underlying principle of The Surrendered Wife is simple: The control women wield at work and with children must be left at the front door of any marriage. Laura Doyle’s model for matrimony shows women how they can both express their needs and have them met while also respecting their husband’s choices. When they do, they revitalize intimacy.
Compassionate and practical, The Surrendered Wife is a step-by-step guide that teaches women how to:
· Give up unnecessary control and responsibility
· Resist the temptation to criticize, belittle, or dismiss their husbands
· Trust their husbands in every aspect of marriage—from sexual to financial
· And more.
The Surrendered Wife will show you how to transform a lonely marriage into a passionate union.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I heard about the book and had to find out what it was really about. I was suprised that it was not so much about being a female doormat as about not being a nagging pecking hen of a wife. The irony is that most nagging controlling pecking hens (I'm thinking of a few of my own relatives here) wouldn't recognize themselves and thus wouldn't back off of their husbands. I don't agree with everything the author says, but I was relieved that it wasn't suggesting that women turn their brains off and blindly do whatever their spouses say or want, no matter what.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good short audio with helpful reminders to let go, and stop having to control EVERYTHING. If you treat your SO as a reasonable and capable person and let your desires be known without having to nitpick, you give him the opportunity to do things for you just because he loves you. I will remember to listen to this again when I am feeling controlling and stressed out.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This was a suggested book from an article I read, and let me tell you… what a load of C.R.A.P! There is no way this would apply to ALL women, maybe worked for the author, but definitely won’t work for others. From personal experience and a few other’s, the author’s suggestion of women becoming more “submissive” to keep the romance going, didn’t (still doesn’t as I’m writing this) pan out that way for anyone at the end. The author kept repeating about the man managing household finance, so it’ll make them feel masculine or whatever and I’ll get more presents in return?! That sounds absurd, especially if you’re trusting your husband with finances and you know he’s terrible at saving. Totally setting up for a disaster and stressful future. Biased and more of an opinionated book. Read it at your own discretion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an excellent read. The information shared is insightful for both women and men.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5dont agree with most of this-maybe worked for her specific person but with the amount of mental illness we see today, its rare that any man would react how her husband did. One case situation doesn't automatically apply to everyone.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I thought the book was a good starting point though a little trite. I think my biggest issue was a Christian woman thanking Margaret Sanger! She was a racist woman who promoted birth control and abortions for dark skinned people and the mentally “feeble”. Maybe this “Christian” needs to do a little more research! On top of that she is applauding early feminists many of whom were occultist and wanted to destroy Christianity because it maintained the patriarchy. ????
