Enter a redheaded stranger – in a vintage yellow Cadillac – who’s purchased the local bra factory and a derelict antebellum mansion, which he hires Keeley to redo.My reactionsEven before I read the jacket blurb, I knew I was in for a light, fun, fast, chick lit, beach read. And that’s exactly what I got. Mary Kay Andrews knows how to write in this genre and she does a fine job of it. The central characters are likeable (or not, as required … I’m looking at you, A.J. and Stephanie), and the plot is supported by a cast of eccentric older folks, wise and tolerant parents, and friends and acquaintances who help Keeley and take a keen interest in her personal life. Andrews includes a bit of a mystery subplot, which I felt distracted from the central romantic tension. But that’s okay … we need both sugar and salt in our reading diet.It’s a fast, fun romp of a novel. Grab some iced tea and your sunglasses and set yourself up on a beach chair to enjoy. Moira Driscoll did a fine job of performing the audio. Her southern accent was spot on, and she really brought the large cast of characters alive.

      O.k., granted, this isn't exactly great literature; nor was it the best written chick lit I've ever read, but it was a fun, quick, good read, which was exactly what I was looking for. (Warning: some spoilers in this review)From the back cover: "The night before her wedding, in the middle of the rehearsal dinner, interior decorator Keeley Murdock finds her fiance and her maid of honor in a compromising position. Keeley throws the hissy fit to end all hissy fits and storms out."Since this all happens in the first pages of the book, it should come as no surprise that there's another guy out there and that there will be a multitude of barriers in their way. Although it was obvious who she would end up with, I have to say that I didn't buy the chemistry or get the appeal of the new guy in the beginning. Over the course of the book, he becomes much more appealing. There isn't a ton of tension between the two -- or maybe I should say that it isn't exactly electric -- but it's certainly a fun ride. The best part of this book for me was the background -- the interior design part was quite enjoyable, and the bra factory part wasn't bad either. The main character came in a close second. Her reactions seemed a little bit out of place in some cases (not the hissy fit -- I could totally see that one happening), but she was a lot of fun as were most of the secondary characters. The subplot about her mother didn't seem entirely necessary -- its resolution seemed to come out of nowhere. Overall, however, the weaknesses didn't matter. I'll be seeking out Andrews' other books and will tell anyone that if they're looking for a light fun read, this is an excellent prospect.

      Great, fun book! I enjoyed this book so much, I literally couldn't put it down. I read the whole book in one day! I loved the southern sass and the spunk of Keeley. Add the beautiful old antebellum mansion Keeley is remodeling and the mystery of her mom missing and you have a story you are quickly wrapped up in....a true page turner!

      Mary Kay Andrews wrote Savannah Blues, a book that I really really liked. Hissy Fit is the book that has convinced me to strike Andrews from my reading list. Briefly, it's the story of interior designer Keeley Murdock, who throws a 'hissy fit' when she finds her fiancee and her maid of honor doing the deed at the country club rehearsal dinner. This seems to be a book that tries to capitalize on the current interest in decorating and shopping that fuels HGTV. It's page after page of descriptions of furniture, rooms, shoes, clothes, food....I love all that....but this is more than even a dedicated shopper, gourmet, home decorator can take. My suggestion? Find yourself a chocolate cupcake and a glass of milk, and just go on and turn on HGTV.

      This book combines Mary Kay Andrews' facility for humorous Southern chick lit with her alter ego Kathy Hogan Trocheck's mystery acumen. An interior designer breaks her engagement and solves the mystery of her mother's long-ago disappearance. I enjoyed the details of the interior design business and the Southern dialogue.

Would-be bride throws a fit, absorbs herself in her work, is hired to design a home for a handsome stranger, works through her issues, and finally, on the last page, realizes she likes to stranger & that the feeling is reciprocated. The book reads like a romance novel with the romance left out til the end. Boring and clichéd, and not even a love story to redeem it…

      I love this he-done-her-wrong tale that starts out with the heroine utterly destroying her rehearsal dinner (via the titular hissy-fit) just because she caught her intended Doing The Nasty with the maid of honor. From that point on, she's a sassy, take-no-prisoners force of nature as the groom's wealthy family attempts to ruin her interior design business and she takes on an impossible job with an impossibly sexy new client. Andrews' best, IMO.

      Summer's always been a time for me torelax by the water and devour pure escape fiction. Mary Kay Andrewswould be a good name to add to your summer reading list. Hissy Fit,Andrews' latest, has interior designer Keeley Murdock discover, onlyminutes before she is to say, "I do," that her scum-bucket fiance hasshamefully snuck beneathe the sheets with her best friend. Keeleydistracts herself from the disaster by helping a rich newcomer totown decorate his home and by trying to locate the mother whodeserted her twenty-five years earlier. A great beach read.

      if i had read this book instead of listening to the audio, I don't think I would've finished it. I thought it was boring. some of it was funny and some of the characters were delightful, but overall i got really tired of hearing about the renovations of the house and didn't really care about what happened.

      This is one hilarious book. I had read Savanah Blues by Mary Kay Andrews and enjoyed it so tried another - this one. From the first chapter I completely sympathized with Keeley, Andrew's gutsy, impulsive and creative main character. I kept hoping that Keeley wouldn't back down and get back together with her teen-aged boy, in a man's body, ex-fiance. Andrews does a great job of giving readers a sense of the culture of the south and the mindframe that exists in a tightly knit, small town community. If you are looking for a fun fast read this is it.

      I'm not sure what to think about this book and I'm not sure how I'd classify it. On one hand I think the characters are one dimensional and act in a way that normal people wouldn't, but on the other hand I did find the book to be interesting. I didn't buy the stupidity of the male character when it came to his "love" and find it hard to believe that he and the main character finally get together in the last couple of pages in the book. Rather far fetched book.

      Not one of your average chick lit books. This book is filled with small town politics, laughter, love, adultery, family, great friends, & mystery. All the ingredients needed to make a wonderful book. Another great one from Andrews, and I would definitely suggest this book to anyone looking for something to read @ the beach!

      Ok, this is strictly chick lit, but it's well written, and has a lot going on with the plot. The mystery of Keeley's mother's disappearance should have played a much larger role than it did, I think. But I liked the feel of this book. I like "southern" novels and this one was well written. Mary Kay Andrews writes one of my favorite mystery series under the name of Kathy Hogan Trocheck, and her voice is obvious in her stand alone chick lit fiction, as well. I liked this and give it a 4.

      This is a fun, humorous, and entertaining book. I enjoyed myself while reading it, and found many laugh-out-loud moments. There were several parts that I didn't care for much, but overall it was well worth the time taken to read it.
