He worked as an editor at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and taught nonfiction writing at Princeton University.       I have old Preston and Child books in my library and was thrilled to be able to catch up on the books I missed. The science is great - the characters true to life - and the story's locations are all around me as I read. Thank you scribd.

      The story revolves around a top secret facility which is believed to be devloping a secret weapon. Two scientists discover the truth behind what is being developed and tested at the facility and soon are on the run. All along, they are aided by persons outside the facility, one of which knows the mastermind personally.

      The biohazard novel is nothing new. However, these two authors have managed to transform it into a gripping, realistic story. They are similar to Michael Crichton in that they take actual science, stretch the bounds of reality a little, and come up with something so believable that it's scary. The story they've crafted around the science is a wonder to read. The characters are believable, the story is gripping, and the climax is fulfilling. I would recommend this book to anybody who's into science thrillers or action movies.

      Really good Preston & Child book but my heart is with the Pendergast series. Stil...great suspense, great writing and a riveting plot.

      Guy Carson, a genetic microbiologist, is assigned to Mount Dragon to continue efforts to bio-engineer a virus that will alter the human genome to render immunity to influenza, saving millions of lives a year. As with most suspense novels of this genre, things go awry and the deadliest virus ever known to man results, threatening the existence of the race when the enigmatic biotech company founder explores the military applications of the new virus. There are stereotypical elements to this story that seem to pervade all the books and movies of the genre from "The Andromeda Strain" to "Outbreak", but the authors manage the suspense and the science with a sure hand that keeps it from seeming hackneyed. A good suspenseful read for a lazy weekend.

      All Preston and Child's books are great fun, and Mount Dragon is no exception. It's fun to see them in the Robin Cook world of medical thrillers, which I hadn't seen them attempt before. It's not likely to win them any awards, but all their work is fast-moving, page-turning beach reading. Mount Dragon is well worth tucking into your suitcase for a good summer vacation read.

      Douglas, Preston n Lincoln Child, Mount Dragon, Guy Carson n Susana Cabeza de Vaca work in a super secret, super-protected lab just under Mount Dragon New Mexico looking for the cure to flu after having developed PurBlood a synthetic that needs no typing.

      This book was a bit of a disappointment coming from the authors of The Relic. This book is in the same vein as Crichton's Andromeda Strain and Preston's Cobra Event and Hot Zone. The first half of Mount Dragon is basically the Standard Formula for this type of book, very predictable. I caught myself guessing plot characters and elements before they were introduced. Somewhere around half way through this book the authors try to redeem themselves with some original plotline, however as it went along there were too many different things going on in this book (and not enough attention/detail for each part). The authors did not do enough research on certain aspects of this book.
