THE OTHER DOWN UNDER
Motorcycling holidays for Dee and I need to be full of curly, winding, rising and falling narrow roads with spectacular views, preferably accompanied by beautiful warm weather. After riding through 40 countries on six continents we have seen a few, but we'd never been to Tasmania where, if one report was to be believed, you'd be hard pushed to find a straight piece of Tarmac.
Together with long-time riding buddies Martin and Fay Silk, we planned a four-week trip, entrusting H-C Travel to arrange the hire of a pair of R1200GSs in Sydney, plus air travel, transfers and accommodation to match our planned route.
We picked up the two Beemers from Bike Round Oz in Sydney and headed south for the next week riding through the Snowy Mountains and Kosciuszko National Park, then across the state border from NSW into Victoria.
