LOS ANGELES - A year ago, Michael Phuong Minh Nguyen said goodbye to his wife and four daughters in Orange County, promising to return in plenty of time to savor their summer together and continue his duties as dad, counselor, chauffeur and cheerleader, managing the children's dance and sports activities.
