Women's World Cup: U.S. Is 'Ready, Excited, Hungry' As It Takes On Thailand
The U.S. enters its first game armed with enormous talent, deep experience and high expectations. The team is prepared for a long tournament run while staying focused on the opponent in front of them.
One game at a time. That's the mantra of the U.S. women's soccer team today, as they play Thailand in their first match of the Women's World Cup in France — after watching every other team play first.
U.S. coach Jill Ellis said the anticipation to get on the field has only grown as players watched the other teams face Monday evening. "I think we feel prepared. The process ... has been a long one. But I think the players that we've selected and the preparation has been excellent."
