THE NATURE OF BEAUTY
What is beauty all about that as far back as the ancient times the phenomenon was identified with the divine, thought to be an otherworldly quality far surpassing the concrete, material manifestations, or at least believed to be of a transcendent, spiritual dimension beyond good and evil – thus, a supreme value basic to the whole cosmos?
Consideration of this question leads at the same time to the question of the harmony of Creation. This is a harmony of happiness that exists separate from all human activity. Therefore, all the ‘blossoms according to the nature of the modern times’ must also be set aside here in order to reach a correct assessment.
