4.00mm knitting needles or a circular 4.00mm knitting needle

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

‘C4F’ – Slip next two sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K2, then K2 from cable needle.

‘T3B’ – Slip next two sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K1, then K2 from cable needle.

‘T3F’ – Slip next st onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K2, then K1 from cable needle.

‘C3B’ – Slip next st onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K2, then P1 from cable needle.

‘C3F’ – Slip next two sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, P1, then K2 from cable needle.

‘TWL’ – Knit into back of 2nd st, then knit first st, slipping both sts off needle tog.

‘TWR’ – Knit into front of 2nd st, then knit first st, slipping both sts off needle tog.

TENSION

27 sts of one patt rep by 30 rows = 10cm, using 4.00mm needles.

Follow the picture graphs or written patterns for design. When working from graph read odd numbered rows (right to left and even numbered rows (wrong side) from left to right.

Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 142 [154 166 182 197 209] sts. Beg Side Split Patt:

Row 1 (wrong side): P3, K2, P2, K6 (12 18 26 20 26), P2, K4, P2, * K2, P2, K4, P3, K4, P2, K2, P2, K4, P2, rep from * to last 13 (19 25 33 27 33) sts, K6 (12 18 26 20 26), P2, K2, P3.

Work rows 1 to 20 incl from Graph A or written instructions as given for side splits at end of pattern. Beg Main Patt:

Row 21: Cast on one st, (P1, K1tbl) six (9 12 16 13 16) times, P4, ‘C4F’, P4, * ‘TWL’, (‘TWR’) twice, ‘T3B’, (‘TWR’) twice, ‘TWL’, P4, ‘C4F’, P4, rep from * to last 11 (17 23 31 25 31) sts, (K1 tbl, P1) 5 (8 11 15 12 15) times, K1 tbl.
