Avalon

This simple quilt, designed by Michelle Marvig, is the ideal design to utilise some of the fabric in your “stash”. It has been made with 20 different print fabrics, however you could use more with a left-over piece as small as 21½in x 14in, long enough to make part of one block. Or you could use photos instead of fabric in the focal blocks for a memory quilt. The character of the design will vary with the fabric used.

Finished size: 183cm (72in) square Finished block sizes: 6in x 12in and 12in square

Materials

• 1.5m (1¾yd) white solid fabric (background)

• 25cm (⅜yd) each of 19 assorted print fabrics: Michelle used seven blue, five pink, four lime green, two multi-coloured and one grey print fabric. She recommends choosing light, medium and dark fabrics in each different colour and a range of print sizes
