Source: The new Tesla Roadster gets its power from three electric motors, with all-wheel drive providing the control you need for that much zipTO THE SKIESDoc Brown may have got his flying DeLorean in 2015, but Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will only miss that mark by a few years, teasing that the new Roadster may one day fly in “short hops”. His reason for building a flying car? LA’s horrendous traffic jams…A NEED FOR SPEEDFour of you can easily cram into the Roadster, and you can stash its removable glass roof in the boot for some top-down action. Tesla reckons a full-load won’t do much to hamper the car’s performance of 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds and 0-100mph in 4.2 secondsROAD RANGEGiven the Roadster’s astonishing 620-mile range you won’t be suffering from ‘range anxiety’. Tesla’s supercar has electric motors – that can be controlled to maximise traction – powering all four wheels, helping it achieve that world-first mileage record

With the Roadster, Tesla is looking to set a new benchmark for the world’s fastest car. It’s a record currently held by the Agera RS, which throws down at 277.9mph; the Roadster’s top speed is said to be above 250mph, but an exact figure has yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime there’s plenty else to get excited about here: 0-60 in 1.9 seconds – the first production car to break the two-second mark – and a whopping 620-mile range… and those stats relate to the basic Roadster – there’ll be an option to increase
