Border Lines: Homeland Security issued new memos today that designate nearly all undocumented immigrants as priority targets for deportation from the U.S.—a change from the previous policy, which focused on deporting convicted criminals. It’s the first implementation of President Trump’s strict new policy on immigration. The other key piece of that policy—a border wall—has also been set in motion but likely won’t be completed on schedule. In the meantime, some workers who participated in a “Day Without Immigrants” protest last week are already facing real consequences: About 100 have reportedly been fired for joining the strike.
