The Causes of the Western Domination of the Social Sciences: A Chinese perspective by Bai Guimei (Peking University Law School, China); The various premises of Western Social Sciences by Shujiro Yazawa (Seijo University, Japan); Imperial Domination and Restricted Scientific Objects: Epistemological Issues in the Construction of a Multipolar Science by Jean Bernard Oudraogo (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique, France); The Global Social Science Under and Beyond the Regime of the Western Approach to Social Science Thinking by Michael Kuhn (World SSH Net, Germany); and Authority, Power, and Politics in Knowledge Production and Visibility by Hebe Vessuri (Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research, Venezuela). The Zwickau Thinkshop was the fourth in a series of thinkshops organized by the World SSH Net since 2011. IFSSO has also co-sponsored the thinkshop in Tokyo in May 2012 and in Mexico City in February 2013. IFSSO President Dr. Nestor Castro is one of the two Vice Presidents of the World SSH Net.
NRCP Elects its Officers for 2013-14 IFSSO Executive Board to Convene in Kuala Lumpur

cont... assembly. The positions that were deemed vacant were those of the Vice Chair, Secretary, and Section Chairs representing the various social science disciplines. IFSSO President Dr. Nestor Castro was unanimously elected as Vice Chair of NRCP Division VIII. Prior to his election as Vice Chair, he served as NRCP Section Chair for Anthropology and Linguistics. Dr. Ma. Cecilia Belen was elected as Secretary of the Division. Elected Section Chairs were Dr. Michael Tan (for Anthropology and Linguistics), Dr. Elizabeth Ventura (for Psychology and Philosophy), Dr. Emmanuel Luna (for Sociology, Social Work, and Demography), Dr. Ernesto Pernia (for Economics and Business Administration), Dr. Genero Japos (for Education and Communication), Dr. Leslie Bauzon (for History and Geography), and Dr. Segundo Romero, Jr. (for Political Science and Public Administration). The NRCP is an active member organization of the International Federation of Social Science Organizations (IFSSO). Dr. Aguilar was a former President of IFSSO and now sits in the IFSSO Advisory Board. Dr. Tan is the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) of the University of the Philippines. CSSP-UP is an associate member organization of IFSSO.

Expected to attend the meeting are the following IFSSO officials: Dr. Nestor Castro (President), Dr. I Ketut Ardhana (First Vice-President), Dr. Kazuhisa Nishihara (Second Vice-President), Mr. Hakan Gulerce (Secretary General), Dr. Mourad Moulai Hadj (Treasurer), Dr. Hidasi Judit (Member), and Dr. Yekti Maunati (Member). Dr. Anan Ganjanapan will be attending in behalf of Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap (Member). Also attending the meeting as Observers are Prof. Eva Sandor-Kriszt (Rector, Budapest Business School), Mr. Joseph Lalo (IFSSO Focal Person for the Philippines), Ms. Mari Shiba (CoConvener of the 22nd IFSSO General Conference), and Ms. Chomphunoot Sappinanda (Staff, National Research Council of Thailand). Officials of the Universiti Malaya are also expected to attend the Executive Board Meeting. This is the first time that IFSSO will be having a meeting in Malaysia.
